Birth Story: February 23 at 2:30 in the morning I lost my mucus plug and started having contractions within 30 minutes. I didn't wake Todd because they were still about six to seven minutes apart. At about 7:30 they were starting to get pretty strong. Todd woke up and got showered and we got everything loaded into the car and decided to head into Burley. I had an appointment that day with my doctor at 10:15 but I called them and told them what was going on and they had me go in earlier. We dropped Abbey off with Lindsay and headed to the doctors office. When we got there they took we straight back and checked me and I was dialted to a 4.5.. So they sent me straight to Labor and delivery. I was over to labor and delivery by 9:45. As soon as I got in there they asked me if I wanted my epidural. By this time the contractions were getting pretty strong so I went ahead and got the epidural. All I can say is WOW!! An epidural is amazing I was feeling good. About and hour and a half after I had received my epidural I was starting to feel a lot of pain. I looked at Todd and told him something was wrong, that what I was feeling was not right. He finally got the nurse and come to find out my epidural had stopped working and just my luck the anesthesiologist was in a surgery for the next hour. He finally made it back in and had to redue my entire epidural. By this time I was exhausted from feeling the contractions that I just laid in Todd's arms while they did the second epidural. Things were finally starting to feel normal again haha. They started the pit and it made the babies heartbeat drop so they had to put me on oxygen and shut the pit off to get the baby stable. Finally things were all going good. Todd, my mom and Tara were in the delivery room with me and at about four they started making bets on when Kasen would make his debut. I was dilating very quickly. They had all guessed that he would be here before 7:00.. Well 7:00 came and went and they kept betting. I finally started pushing at 7:40 and I pushed for two and a half hours, finally doctor Jeppson asked me how I felt about a c-section. I looked at him and told him he was the doctor and he knew best so he said we needed to do a c-section. So we did they took me right back and Kasen Kenneth was born at 12:01 on February 24 and weighed 7lbs. 12oz. and was 20.5" long. I was puking the hole time I was in labor and during the c-section was no different. I remember leaning over puking and then the next thing I heard a baby crying and he was here already. I was so exhausted that I slept through a lot of it. I kept falling asleep and then I would wake up and they were still stitching me up. It was a very long labor but all worth it. Recovery seemed to take forever all I wanted to do was get to my room and hold my baby boy and see my family. Kasen has filled a void in my heart that has been longing to be filled for many many years now. I am so honored to be his mommy.
