Gillette: First Day of Competition

The very first day they just had to go take some written tests and things like that and then on Friday is when they started in on the scenarios. Todd's team had to be there by Five and I was there by six. They had six different scenarios that they had to do. The first one that they did there was a bus that had crashed and there were ten people inside the bus and only three of them could walk out. They had thirty minutes to asses all the patients. Their next stop they had to tie all different kinds of knots, take a written test and do CPR on a baby and adult. When Todd got to the part where he had to tie knots he realized he forgot his rope so he used an extension cord:) Leave it to my husband lol. The next station was a house that was on fire. There was one guy stuck inside. Todd and another guy from his team were the ones that got to go in and find the guy. But as soon as they got through the window they had black garbage sacks put over their heads so they couldn't see anything it was a challenge to find the guy. Then they went to a station where they had to work on their teamwork. The fifth stop was a tower where they had to get their captain up to the second level by using Ropes and then they had to go up seven flight of stairs and to the top of the building where they found that a guy had fallen off the top and they had to repel down to him and stabilize him and get him back to the top of the tower by using ropes as well. The final station they had to do patient assessments. It was a very long day but it was a lot of fun to see Todd in action and see how much he has learned. I am so proud of him and all the hard work he has put into this.
